Proceeds will benefit student scholarships
Chesapeake, Va.— The E3 Community Foundation has released its scholarship application for the 2020-2021 school year. This will be the fifth year—since its formation in 2013—that E3 will award scholarships. Three scholarships up to $1,500 each will be awarded to qualifying African-American students.
“We are honored to be able to offer scholarships to these deserving students,” said Shelia S. Harrison, chair of the E3 Board. “Awarding scholarships is one way we fulfill our mission to educate our community.”
The Academic and Community Service Scholarships will be given to qualifying African-American students with outstanding community service and exceptional academic backgrounds. The award recipient must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, be accepted into and plan to attend an accredited four-year college or university, been an active participant with an organization that promotes community service, be a resident of Hampton Roads, and have a demonstrated need for monetary assistance. In addition, the recipient must submit a 300-word essay addressing the topic, “Why are you deserving of the E3 Community Foundation Scholarship, and how will it impact your academic goals?”
Due to the impact of COVID-19, the application deadline has been extended to June 1, 2020. Winners will be notified in early July.
